Adventure How-To is about adventures. So what’s an adventure, you ask? I could give you ten answers, but instead of doing that I have provided a nifty excerpt from Google Definitions below:
Ad-ven-ture – noun
adventures, plural
- An unusual or exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity
- Daring and exciting activity calling for enterprise and enthusiasm
– verb
- Engage in hazardous and exciting activity, especially the exploration of unknown territory
- Put (something, like money or one’s life) at risk
As you can see, adventures are about placing yourself in situations where the outcome might be uncertain but the experience will provide you with lots of excitement and a sense of being alive. According to André Malraux: “if a man is not ready to risk his life, where is his dignity?” Ok, that is pretty harsh. But Helen Keller put it right: “life is either a daring adventure or nothing.”
Whether it is about spending the night in a shack on a tropical beach, having a living octopus in front of you on your dinner plate, being the only English-speaker within a 100-mile radius, or simply surviving one of the word’s most notoriously epic parties; if it’s an adventure, it belongs on Adventure How-To.
